Making Curriculum Pop

The Conference on English Leadership (CEL) fosters an intimate professional community dedicated to building the leadership capacity of literacy educators.  A constituent group of the National Council of Teachers of English, CEL crafts an Annual Convention that features nationally renowned keynote speakers and engaging breakout sessions.  These informative sessions are presented by literacy leaders who are department chairs, curriculum coordinators, building administrators, college professors, literacy coaches, and early career and veteran teachers.  CEL's Convention will be held November 24 - 26, 2013 as part of the Post Convention Workshop (W.16) options of the NCTE Annual Convention.

CEL's Annual Convention 2013 theme is "Transformative Literacy Leadership and Learning." Sessions will focus on ways educators adapt their leadership and their instruction to meet the changing needs of students, teachers, and communities.  CEL invites literacy educators at the elementary, secondary and higher education levels to submit a proposal for consideration in its 2013 Annual Convention.  While we welcome submissions on a broad range of topics, we encourage you to submit sessions that connect to one of our possible theme strands, which include

  • Literacy Coaches and Teacher Leaders as Change Agents,
  • English Leadership in Independent and Private School Settings,
  • Emerging and Early Career Leadership,
  • Innovative Instructional Technology,
  • Culturally Relevant Literacy Instruction,
  • Designing Extraordinary Curriculum with the Common Core.
