Any fun lesson plans for Huck Finn? We're about half way through the novel...

Whoops, for got to say, once you click on Huck Finn at 60 Second Recap, look at the right side of the page for the recap videos.

These all look great. I'm also in the middle of teaching Huck Finn right now. I've done several things that my students have really enjoyed:

1. I found a DVD of Hal Holbrook's Mark Twain Tonight. It's an awesome show, and much of what he says rings true today. Some of the humor was over their heads, but we talked about why he makes fun of the government, religion, etc, and it primed them forFinn.

2. We also read his essay "The Damned Human Race", which they enjoyed. We've been talking a lot about satire, so it fit in very well.

3. We read "The Incident" by Countee Cullen. My students all had very strong reactions to the poem, and it led us into a great discussion about the power of language.
