From Bob Pearlman's new book on new learning environments - you can download a chapter from his book for free!  He cites research that says a 21st century learning space needs three things: a space for students to utilize technology (individual work), a space to collaborate with others (group work), and a space to create something (project work).  

 

Noted: 2 signature features of schools that follow the New Tech Model (www.newtechnetwork.org):

1) Double-sized classrooms, two-teacher interdisciplinary team working in a double-block period

2) No walls or glass walls separating learning spaces
