Hope you'll try out my MakeBeliefsComix.com web site where you can create your own comic strip online. It offers fun characters with different emotions to choose from, blank talk and thought balloons to fill in with text, and story prompts. You can print or email the comix you create. So Kate, don't tease the small group so much! You've got to share some of your cool list.... On a related note there is also a book for librarians that is pretty interesting, although I'd say since its publication (2004) you're right, places like firstsecond have really started publishing classroom friendly titles (that aren't in this book) but you might check your list against Graphic Novels in your Media Center...worth a look

i would say we are the graphic novel gu-ru's!!! last week i composed a list of appropriate graphic novel fiction for middle and high school..........i am so impressed with everything that is out there!!! we really have a lot to work with when advocating for this genre in the classroom. also, i would have to say that first-second books is doing one of the best jobs of publishing high-quality graphic novel literature. check out their website. firstsecondbooks.com
