Making Curriculum Pop

I recently was trying to figure out how to make my Twitter account more useful since I don't actually use it. Not many of my friends use Twitter and it's so similar to Facebook updates that I couldn't quite figure out the point in doing both. So I started thinking about how to use it with students and I came upon this idea: use my account to update my status in Spanish (I'm a Spanish teacher) and have students respond back in Spanish. I think this could be a great way to apply and practice vocabulary and grammar being learned in a fun "real/cyber-world" way. The only catch is that I'm not teaching this year so I can't try it out. Has anyone tried this?

This idea has great potential. I teach younger ELL's, so it wouldn't work for them. I am not sure in what capacity you are not teaching, but maybe this would be a good time to experiment with it.
