Anthropocene definition - if you are not down ...

The Anthropocene Project by Edward Burtynsky
“These images function as reflecting pools of our times.” —Edward Burtynsky

Edward Burtynsky’s images have long explored the collective impact we as a species are having on the surface of the planet. From recycling yards, mine tailings, quarries, and refineries, this photo essay bears witness to a critical moment in geological history, capturing the breadth of impact that our human systems and technologies have imposed onto natural landscapes. Pitting our longing for comfort and our drive for consumption against the obvious toll such desires take on our planet, these images reflect back to us the ongoing dilemma of modern existence.
