Jones
Addressing the Essential Question: Media literacy, what is the truth?

To understand media literacy one needs to first understand what media is and how it affects societies. Today, most people get their news from the internet, television, and other means. Stores, Gas stations, bathrooms, and of course restaurants and bars are prime targets for media. The awareness of such types of media needs to be acknowledged and taught. The video project I created uses older media footage to address very important points which still of course exist in today.

While attending the TTP workshop I was able to get a sense of what types of media were being taught and more importantly not being taught in the classroom. Media Education should be incorporated in today’s curriculum. Scholarly deciphering information is crucial to ones accurate comprehension.

Production:
The following is a list of the primary programs I used to complete this project:
• StreamRipper
• Adobe Premiere CS4
• Soundbooth CS4

Video structure:
In creating my video project I used some voice-over techniques in order to portray contrast. Furthermore I want to trigger and engage my audience. Some of the footage is well known for example the “This is your brain, This is your brain on drugs” segment. I feel engaging and then shocking my audience can benefit what they may learn from it. The overall thought of my project was not to portray that media is wrong nor is media right. My point is to make sense of media and educate.
