Oh yeah, he knows EVERYTHING about that stuff.  Sounds like a great mix of disciplines you're looking at!

Hehe. A fellow TCer! Pleased to meet you! JB is who pointed me to this site! I took Brougton's Cultural Studies course last year and am considering doing an interdisciplinary Ed.D. with him as an advisor. I'm currently a kind of dual citizen between Philosophy and Ed, Music and Ed. and Computing & Comm.

Hi Chris - this is a major area of study in Cultural Studies (maybe not so much with the teaching slant but certainly the space thing) that I don't know a ton about. I do know there are some great essays out there on this - you might put a query in to John Broughton at Teachers College Columbia - he's at the site and would have a lot of ideas.

Wondering if anyone is interested in the question of how spaces like theme parks and malls impart or reflect a kind of pedagogy or educational ideal. As an avid theme park buff, I enjoy visiting Disney's EPCOT which I feel is a kind of campus reflecting the pedagogy of corporate capitalism. I am largely repelled by this ideology, but I can't help but enjoy the feeling of the place.

Kyle - this is dope - pls consider pulling an excerpt from the article and moving it up to the discussion forum!

do consider moving your wall post up above us BECAUSE (drum roll) that way your resource has a URL, a "reply feature" and it won't get buried over time.

Thanks for sharing. It is really interesting!

What an interesting topic. There's a Teachers College "reality show" on the this topic as well. Good watch!
