Making Curriculum Pop

Hello! From 2008-2013, the StoryTubes contest was an outstanding forum to promote literacy with student-created two-minute video book trailers. Open to students in grades K-12 anywhere in the world, StoryTubes got kids excited about reading, media creation, and voting for their favorite submissions. In 2014, the contest lost its funding and tech support. This is a sad loss, especially for students as StoryTubes provided a fun and highly motivational outlet for kids of all reading and technology levels.

To bring this contest back, we need volunteers (especially someone willing to spearhead the project and serve as a key point person)! Willing and able hands are required in areas of technology support, securing prizes, fundraising, publicity, and rating and judging entries. The previous point person* is happy to help with questions, insights, and suggestions as volunteers begin the process of reinstituting this excellent student-centered endeavor. Please visit the StoryTubes Web site to view previous winning videos, see contest rules, and hear short videos from educators explaining the benefits of the program.
