Making Curriculum Pop

EVENT: Virtual Conference Sessions on Digital Writing and 21st Century Assessments

I thought this info on NCTE's Virtual Conference next week might interest some MCPoppers:

You may have heard that NCTE is offering its first Spring Virtual Conference starting next week, geared to middle and high school teachers. Session offerings include:

* Incorporating 21st Century Literacies into the Curriculum (Bud Hunt & Sara Kajder)

* Digital Writing Workshop (Troy Hicks)

* Implications of Assessments Given 21st Century Student Work (William Kist)

* Projects Based Learning in the Digital Age (Suzie Boss and Jane Krauss)

Also included are sessions on differentiated instruction, writing to learn, content literacy, and more.
Participation is very simple and provides more flexibility than any traditional face-to-face conference can.

Your school can register for all of this for $250. This fee covers ALL of your teachers for all three days.

The live events will take place on April 15, April 20, and May 10, but teachers from your school don't all have to be released from the classroom to participate because the registration fee also provides them with access to the recordings of all the sessions.

Savvy literacy leaders will want to remix and repurpose the recordings and resources into a sustained professional development experience for next school year.  For example, you can use the recordings throughout the year as a basis for your staff in-service days or department meetings.  Look at the conference program at
http://www.ncte.org/virtualconf/program  and you'll find it's a potential calendar of professional development events to enhance future in-service days. The conference begins next week so don't delay in sharing this opportunity with the decision makers at your school.
