If you're not a member of the "Teaching With Moving Images" group, consider joining so you can catch great resources like this article - 'Do The Right Thing' Still Asks Burning Questions. Check it out as it talks about the racial realities of NYC today.

MEDIA CONVERSATIONS, June 2009

If you live/work in the NYC area, you may have already heard of the "Media Conversations" aka "Media: Overseas Conversations" conference. Organized by Jordi Torrent, it's held every year in NY and draws media educators from all over the world... and the best thing is that it's all FREE. (Here's an un-updated site for it: http://www.mocnyb.org/)

Anyway, Fordham and Pratt are sponsoring/helping with things this year, and they've asked me to present at the New Media panel on June 5 at Pratt's 14th St. campus. There will be folks on the panel discussing gaming, media in public places, and other cool things but I'm charged with covering K-12 -- we'll talk about moving image media, participatory culture, and even web comics and graphic novels... and how all this stuff connects to the core curriculum, standards, and more "traditional" media literacy.

So if you can be there 3:30-5:30, it would be great to see/meet you! (And please feel free to bug me for more details.)

Thanks -- !
