Stacey - great to see you only a day later!! Interesting topic - I would guess we can be even more helpful as you refind your research question. Dr. Zenhausern is really awesome at that stuff.

In the meantime, related to your topic - can I plug ths book that I just think it the bees knees for getting teachers hip to technology? it has all these great 2pg. overviews of new tech.

I'm happy to have found this spot.  I was at a workshop yesterday where Ryan presented, and it was great.  I have 2 more semesters of coursework, then I begin.  I am taking a very basic ed. research class this semester, in order to help me with the proposal process.  I just started a technology coaching PLC at my school.  I don't know my topic but I am interested in something along the lines of teacher self-efficacy and the NETS-T standards through participation in a PLC....or something along those lines.

After I hit "add comment", I realized that it is a quantitative study :)
I have been searching through dissertations and have not found anything like it yet. As you have said, now comes the hard part - designing the questionnaire!

You outlined is a perfect quantitative study. I may be purely correlational but is totally quantitative especially if you compare two part of the country.
The hard part would be to design the questionnaire to cover the important material. Then, of course, getting the AP to fill it out. Suppose you got AP to respond what they did and what they expected and the Principals to say what they expected and what they got.

If it has not been done before, it seems you have it made.

It can be more like an extended essay. I don't think I would have much, if any quantitative data to use.
I would hypothesize the at least 85% of APs would be responsible for different tasks that were originally assigned or expected. I would use a survey and interview to gather data at the beginning of the school year, in the middle and in the end. My sample would include suburban and urban high schools. Geographically, I am now in the south, but still connected to NYC. Would it be too advantageous to compare NE city and SE city?
