Hi, Nic,

Congratulations! Amazing work! I will think of you every time I'm frustrated that I can't get into a writing lab!

Nic,
Kudos to you and real world applications of science. I thought it was great that you pointed out who USUALLY gets the foundation awards and attention....maybe it will serve as food for thought for the group. I am the director of a magnet program in a Title I school. Same frustrations, lack of resources, wish for counseling (beginning in third grade), and ups and downs in general. If your students want a cool interdisciplinary idea, check out the HOT Zone by Richard Preston. Africa in social studies and Hot Zone in language arts and disease study in science make it a HOT unit!
