Film and Human Rights

I mostly use documentaries to encourage dialogue about human rights. As a Spanish teacher, many of the lessons I create focus on different grammar or culture points and are always accompanied by human rights issues. It's never too early to begin this dialogue. My 8th grade students finished watching "La Misma Luna" or "Under the Same Moon". We began a travel unit and this movie address a journey a 10 year old boy makes from Mexico to Los Angeles to find his mother. This was looking at travel from a different angle....
