Making Curriculum Pop

OK, I like KV a a lot and this story cracks me up on a surface level. It is an easy read but very complicated in its meaning and message.

Vonnegut's generation of writers (Mahler comes to mind) certainly deserved the criticism they received for their sexist world views. This story certainly highlights that issue. If you have twenty minutes to read the story, I'd love to know:

1. If people would teach this
2. If so how they would deal with the complex gender issues it presents.

The story certainly brought the TV show Mad Men to mind as the narrator follows the exploits of this bachelor extraordinaire and the powerful, but paradoxically marginal, female foil.

There is a posthumous collection of Vonnegut stories being released this fall and this story was a teaser for that book in Harper's. Only subscribers are able to access article PDFs, so as always, I share the attached PDF below "For Educational Use Only"
