Making Curriculum Pop

Wired Magazine only puts about 90% of their content on line.  This little feature I pulled does not have a date I can find :(  Still, despite the less than awesome scan, there is a lot of interesting stuff to talk with students about re: emoticons. I love the start of the timeline...

"1400s - MEDIEVAL MANUSCRIPTS Figures and faces are drawn into manuscripts to highlight certain lines of text and cue emotional responses."

Enjoy...

Cool. Thanks for posting this, Ryan. Researching visual literacy has confirmed that almost everything--even emoticons, it seems--is older than I thought it was! This article adds to what we're learning about visual texts.
L to the R,

Glad you liked it - I actully wrote the author as I was wondering what his sources were. But, yes, everything old is old again :)

Hope you had a great Turkey Day.

Ry:)
