The Games+Learning+Society Conference is excited to announce the 4th annual GLS Educators Symposium (GLSES) to be held Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Memorial Union.  GLSES is an opportunity celebrate and deepen educators’ use of games and digital media in various educational settings; foster collaboration among teachers, designers, researchers and others throughout the elementary to higher education continuum; and support opportunities for educators to network and participate in professional development. GLSES sets an exciting tone for the annual GLS conference, now in its 8th year.

Workshop Facilitators

For the first time GLSES is announcing a call for workshop proposals.  We seek proposals for interactive, two-hour workshops during which facilitators engage teachers in creative professional development opportunities related to games-based learning and digital media.  Additional information about workshops can be found on the new GLSES website:

Workshops proposals may be submitted through the GLS submission system and are due March 15^th.

 

The Gameful Classroom Event

Do you have experience “gamifying” your classroom? Have you designed learning contexts, spaces, curricula, programs, or institutions that incorporate elements, principles, and inspiration from game design? Then “The Gameful Classroom” is for you – a one-day workshop facilitated as part of GLSES 2012.  Additional information can be found on the GLSES website and here:

Applications for the Gameful Classroom event are due March 15^th.

 

GLSES 2012 highlights also include a keynote address by Jeremiah McCall, the Gameful Classroom event facilitated by Sebastian Deterding, workshops and panel discussions, and updates about GLS initiatives with pre-service teachers.  We are also excited to offer K-12 teachers multiple registration options for GLSES and GLS, and connections with "practice-focused" sessions at GLS 8.0.
