Hi Doug, for what grade level are you looking?  I know the Virginia Council of Economic Education has these resources:

Resources for Understanding Mutual Funds
What is a Mutual Fund? High school lesson from Learning Earning and Investing
Before You Invest in a Mutual Fund Questions you should ask prior to investing in a mutual fund
Understanding Mutual Funds 50 page booklet on mutual funds

Also have you looked at the NECC resources - http://www.councilforeconed.org/resources

Have you checked out this book? The Cartoon Introduction to Economics: Volume One: Microeconomics

And while it does not explicitly address Mutual Funds these radio shows from This American Life are incredible if you're working with HS or above - Your Guide to the Meltdown.

I hope these get you started.

Have you checked out EconEdLink? http://www.econedlink.org/. You will find hundreds of lesson plans and activities there.
