Making Curriculum Pop

Excellent viral film with a strong (and debatable) POV. If you have not seen it, is likely a catalyst for powerful class discussion. The best part about using the shot is the irony that as it has been widely shared on social media with over 38 million views - as of this posting - on YouTube!

Short editorial on the film at the WaPo and a more passionate response from the National Review, "Please Join Me In Loathing Gary Turk’s ‘#LookUp.’"

Thanks for sharing.Timely video to share with students during final weeks of school year. Could use in conjunction with SPAR debate. See www.teachingenglishlanguagearts.com.

Anna J, I know know of the SPAR debate and - although I was scrolling down your blog and seeing lots of groovy stuff - I did not see SPAR. Help me of little mind?

Here you are, Ryan. This is a link to a blog page SPRING INTO SPEECHES AND MEET CCSS.  Scroll down for link to .pdf on SPARing.

Enjoy!

That is really cool!  I wonder - as I spend all my job as a fake-administrator (or at least what I like to think of myself as) working hard to go from SpAR to finding common ground and points of agreement post-SPAR. That is way harder, of course.  Love the one sheet. Thank you for sharing (as always).
