The back cover of the current issue of Entertainment Weekly is an ad promoting the upcoming TBS comedy series Glory Daze. This ad (which I have uploaded to my site) could be used to teach students some of the visual/textual features of informational texts, and how this parody resembles a real magazine cover. In addition, before the first episode airs, it could be possible for students to make a list of the attributes of each of the four characters portrayed in the ad. What kinds of stereotypes might be communicated ? Do you think this ad is clever?
