Engage Students in Inventing and Designing
Responding to the increasing demand for skilled engineers in the 21st century job market, the WGBH-produced PBS program Design Squad Nation has partnered with Rocket21 (a social network where youth explore possibilities for their lives and futures) to engage its community of ‘tweens in the show’s content and activities. Designed to increase students’ awareness and understanding of engineering, Design Squad Nation is a multimedia program for middle school youth that includes television episodes broadcast nationally on PBS, an interactive Web site and hands-on engineering activities. Implementation on Rocket21 includes a special Design Squad Nation area on the platform—featuring projects, Web links and opportunities to interact with the program’s creators and producers, and a range of inventors, designers and engineers. |
