Calculation Nation uses the power of the Web to let students challenge
opponents from anywhere in the world. At the same time, students are
able to challenge themselves by investigating significant mathematical
content and practicing fundamental skills. The element of competition
adds an extra layer of excitement. Calculation Nation is part of the
NCTM Illuminations project, which offers Standards-based resources that
improve the teaching and learning of mathematics for all students.

BLOCK Fest is an interactive exhibit that provides families with young
children under the age of 8 with a rich, hands-on math and science
learning opportunity. The exhibit has been shown to increase parent
knowledge of early development in the areas of math and science
education, while providing opportunities to increase social skills and
literacy opportunities for young children.

The webinar on Ancient Egypt math will discuss code-breaking and
interpretation of Fibonacci and Ahmes' related rational number
conversion methods. We will discuss mathematical and educational
implications of studying "proto number theory" of Ancient Egypt, based
on Achmim Wooden Tablet images hosted at MathOrigins.com.

Project Euclid's mission is to advance scholarly communication in the
field of theoretical and applied mathematics and statistics. Project
Euclid is designed to address the unique needs of low-cost independent
and society journals. Project Euclid was developed and deployed by the
Cornell University Library and is jointly managed by Cornell and the
Duke University Press.
