Making Curriculum Pop

I am currently using W. James Potter's Media Literacy textbook and while I agree with the principles, find it to be very jargon heavy and a bit of a turn off for my beginning undergraduates.  Anyone out there either using this text and have some comments or using a different text?

The Teacher's Guide to Media Literacy would definitely apply to HS.

I teach a high school junior/senior elective course. My problem was finding a text that was more on their reading level and not so jargon and theory heavy - exactly what you're looking for. I settled on Ralph Hanson's Mass Communication. It's also significantly cheaper than other textbooks.
