Engaging Students: Rule of Thirds

A student wrote me from Nigeria. Said he was a mass comm. student and needed help with cognitive balance theory. I was thrilled to get his letter. It showed me that we are indeed becoming a global village. This little blog would once have been thought of as science fiction, but is now just a form of communication, albeit over a long-distance.

Now to answer my new friend. Understanding the various theories of communications are important parts of media studies. But what we don’t teach pre-service or in-service teachers who are going to teach media studies, is how to reach your students.
