Making Curriculum Pop

Students publishing their work - creating eBook using ePub format for eReaders

Looking to learn/understand the basics of creating ePub format for content (interactive eTextbook) and for student publishing efforts?

Just started this site  about ePub with student publishing examples and content examples:

http://2epub.wikispaces.com

Students have eReaders that are capable of reading ePub format publications.   Schools are adding eReaders (especially iPad) as their method of accessing eCurriculum eBooks.  So how do we create content for these devices?

ePub is the answer for today - standard format that can be read by eReaders, devices and online.  In its infancy, expect to see many changes and capabilities ongoing.

Student work samples:

Students created a variety of original works in ePub format so that they could take their publications home with them electronically--

  • 6th grade students wrote their own poetry and read their work (saved as mp3) (iBooks app on iPad or iPod touch or iPhone supports audio and video in an ePub)
  • 7th grade students wrote myths and created their own illustrations
  • Social Stories were created for students with special needs  with Audio
  •

Lesson or Curricular Content:

Teachers can create content that includes images, hyperlinks and text that can be read on iPad, iPod, iPhone, Nook and online readers.  Using 2epub.com, upload and convert a PDF to .epub quickly and without a login.

eTextbooks are becoming available for download:

Anyway, lots changing and quickly--
