FUNNY ARTICLE: Band Names & Album Cover Project

Ok so in the big album cover unit I do where kids create their own band, album cover & biography (aka 5 paragraph essay in disguise" we talk a lot about band names and how many of them are oxymorons

An oxymoron is the pairing of two or more words that have opposite meanings. For example, “colorful darkness” is an oxymoron because “colorful” implies many colors, whereas “darkness” implies the inability to see colors. Many familiar artists have names that are oxymora – Biggie Smalls, Fatboy Slim, and The Grateful Dead.

We put some time in talking about what makes a cool and meaningful band name.

Well then there are these incredible collections from The Onion. BE WARNED, although many of these names are funny, some are wildly offensive and you could only talk about 10% of these carefully chosen in a class. I mostly put this up because many of them are really funny.
