Making Curriculum Pop

In my opinion, if you're not watching The Sing-Off...you should be!

It's showcases amazing a capella talent which could only be so POPular because of Glee. I only mention it here because there is a jazzy group of music teachers from Seattle still in the competition and last week Ben Folds said "There's nothing cooler than teaching."

Thanks for bouncing this up Anne!

This is such a great show, I just love it.  How talented all these people are.

I think even my jaded urban street kid students will get a kick out of this show.  White boys doing rap could be a great lesson starter for 6 trait: idea development.  Take what you know or see and view it in a different way.

This could also work with a graphic O'.   Using a mind map, Students create a word study on the connotative and dennotive meaning of the words harmony, balance, rhythm, ect.  From this graphic create a word list of synonyms.  Then have students watch the video using a compare/contrast T graphic.  Let them be the judges.  Thanks, Anne!

Great ideas Terisa!
