CURRICULA: Green Education PDFs from Germany

Have you read about the incredible German Solar Power industry..

In a recent Op-Ed Column in the New York Times THOMAS L. FRIEDMAN pointed out that:

Germany now generates almost half the solar power in the world today and, as a byproduct, is making itself the world-center for solar research, engineering, manufacturing and installation. With more than 50,000 new jobs, the renewable energy industry in Germany is now second only to its auto industry. One thing that has never existed in America — with our fragmented, stop-start solar subsidies — is certainty of price, connectivity and regulation on a national basis.

And remember, it is not like Germany is the sunniest country in Europe. Their government is doing a lot of trans-atlantic outreach work producing English Language curriculum for certain people in the English speaking world who prefer fossil fuels.

Introduction

Now more than ever it is important to educate students to start thinking "green." With this goal in mind, the Transatlantic Outreach Program has created its own "green" curriculum for educators, entitled It's Up to You & Me, Here & Across the Sea. Additionally, Germany's Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, and Nuclear Safety has translated four of its volumes into English: Biological Diversity, Climate Protection & Policy, Renewable Energies, and Water in the 21st Century. All volumes may be downloaded in PDF format below.
