Making Curriculum Pop

This weekend Nicole and I visited the Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum on the Upper East Side in NYC. They had great exhibits but this little "Doodle 4 Google" exhibit in the basement struck me as a brilliant project for kids of all ages. Furthermore, the collection they had on display showed how kids from age 4 - 18 tackled the Google contest prompt.

"What I Wish For The World"
Doodle 4 Google is a competition where we invite K-12 students to reinvent Google's homepage logo. Both our country and our world are undergoing significant change and this year we invited students to doodle around the theme "What I Wish for the World". At Google we believe in thinking big, and dreaming big, and we can't think of anything more important than encouraging students to do the same.

The finalists were a great model for projects that have a strong learning objective and a lot of flexibility. Here's a video that will give you a sense of the work kids did:

and here's the exhibit website.

Enjoy!
