Making Curriculum Pop

This new (2014) Compass Point Book series, Captured World History, seeks to engage students via images from the news. Can a photograph transform how people understand our world? Yes, and in many ways. This new series, which builds on the award-winning Captured History formula, turns an eye toward crucial moments in world history and iconic images that spread across the globe, presenting unforgettable events and changing history in the process. Combining art, biography, history, and media literacy, this series focuses on photographs known worldwide, details their initial effects, and describes how and why these images resonate today.  Titles included are:  Hitler In Paris; The Blue Marble; Summiting Everest; and Tank Man.
