I really want to see this, looks like a more provocative discussion film than Superman. Has anyone seen it already? First the trailer than the NYTimes video Op-Ed.
We screened this film at our school this week. I think every parent, student and educator in the U.S. needs to see this if only to see school from the perspective of the "other". It was hard not to agree with and understand each person's perspective but also wonder where we begin systemic change: top-down (from university) or bottom-up (from preschool). I had a lot of thoughts as I was watching it but I felt as though the most important piece was the discussion we held afterwards which included parents, teachers, students, community members and state representatives. It definitely has made me reflect about what type of homework I give, how I communicate with students and what my reality as a teacher is.
