Making Curriculum Pop

This NYT Learning Network blog post highlights two lesson plans for teaching students about 9/11 in recognition of the 11th anniversary of the attacks. In one lesson, a middle-school teacher in North Dakota assessed her students' existing knowledge about the day, and then asked them to read newspapers from the 10 days following the attacks. She then asked them to share words that described their feelings and concerns, creating a Wordle -- or "word cloud" -- which she shared with the class.
