Making Curriculum Pop

This is a resource  from the Minnesota Humanities Center but some of the info may be of use beyond Minnesota. It's their Absent Narratives curriculum: "stories, art, music, and histories that are left out of the standard curriculum or story of a place and people. These narratives are not absent from the lived experiences or cultural lives of students, but they are not represented as part of the mainstream curriculum."

Links to 3 Programs, each with its own resources.

1.     Code Talkers: Native Words/Native Warriors, a program by the National Museum of the American Indian about translators during WWII.    .

2.     A more local story, Bdote Memory Map. Hear the stories of Dakota people living in the Twin Cities about what this place means to them.

3.     You can also check out the Community Voices and Experiences video page, with many different topics containing interviews with people recommended through partnership with Legacy Partners.
