Making Curriculum Pop

I caught this show channel surfing late one night when I landed on the Discovery Channel. Dr. Cooney is an Assistant Professor of Egyptian Art and Architecture at UCLA. She earned her PhD in Near Eastern Studies from Johns Hopkins University in 2002. Her first series Secrets of Egypt's Lost Queen had a focus on The Great Queen Hatshepsut - a story also retold nicely in the graphic novel No Girls Allowed. She has a cool demeanor and her new show does a nice job of connecting the dots between Egypt to modern culture. Plus it is a bit gross at times - always a hook for kids, eh?

Dr. Cooney's personal website is here.
Out of Egypt's website is here.
And the show is available on iTunes here.

Here is a sample of the show and an interview with Dr. Cooney on The Late Show with Craig Ferguson.
