If you're teaching the Middle Ages you'd be crazy to not use Terry Jones' (Monty Python)
Medieval Lives. Is now available in its entirety via the BBC on YouTube and available as a DVD set at Amazon. Medieval Lives is an awesome series like The Barbarians as Jones always questions established historical narratives (think a funnier and British Howard Zinn).

Because he uses a Chaucerian approach to the time period you can easily differentiate viewing by allowing students to choose a social role to explore independently that they can then share with the whole group.
