Things are still being shared here over at #mcpop & my dissertation is getting closer to the finish line this term (note my careful wording - designed not to jinx). I was on the site a bit today and got excited about returning at full force in the AD (what my wife and daughter call After Dissertation)
Anyway, some of you read the Atlantic article that featured some MC POPPERS about using comics generators in the classroom:
One of the featured generators in the article was #mcpopper Bill Zimmerman's MakeBeliefsComix.com. Bill is a kind and modest dude. He's a retired newspaperman and authorwho has developed the the tool for teachers at no cost. I got a note from him this morning and thought I'd share new about their site redesign.
Just wanted to bring to your attention that we have launched the redesigned and enhanced MakeBeliefsComix.com. It is easier to navigate, allows users to build longer comic strip stories, enables users to make comics with their mobile phones, and allows them to write text for their comics in any language they wish, including Chinese. It was a big undertaking, but very much worth doing, and the changes reflect what users have asked for over the years.
I thought folks would like to check it out!
Happy Super Bowl Sunday and thanks for all the excellent sharing at the site!
After sixteen years of teaching, high school teacher Kisaundra Harris switched to flexible seating. Her students now call her classroom a safe haven. https://t.co/uL82G2B4df
Change—at least at first—isn’t about growth or capacity building or learning. It’s about loss. That's why when leaders are seeking change in schools, they need to be flexible and clear about the reasons why. https://t.co/hHAuxRWKcb
It neurobiologically impossible to think deeply about things you don't care about. I would add that "making" someone care through coercion/artificial incentives produces shallow thinking with wrong perspective/motivation. https://t.co/gPfUAjFirY#deeperlearning#edpolicy#stemed
