Hey everyone - the NSTA listsev for Bio teachers has been blowing up about this book and related resources - some great ideas (especially related to "complex text)! - http://rebeccaskloot.com/the-immortal-life/

SO glad this came my way! I teach 7th grade life science in an urban school district. We are just beginning our unit on the Cell and a true story like this may be the "hook" to get the kids interest! I am thinking of ways to involve my team's ELA teacher and SS teacher in this investigation. I won't leave out my math teacher since HeLa cells have been used globally!
