If your students liked Twilight, what else would you recommend? This is a question that was asked on an NCTE listserve I'm on..

I have quite a few students who are finishing the Twilight series and looking for another good book or series like that. Does anyone have any suggestions? Twilight caught on with our boys, too. :)

I tried to read this series but young studnets seem to love this manga Chibi Vampire from Tokyo Pop. The first couple comics were all PG. I can't vouch for all 14 volumes.

What books do you recommend to young readers who loved the Twilight series? Please share your ideas below! Try to add hyperlinks to Amazon if you have a minute as that makes is easier for folks to preview the texts!

Ack, I'm almost scared to ask for more since the Twilighters ("Twerds"?) innundated us, but if you have some super passionate fans, have them write in...we had to delete a lot of less-than-civil haters, though.

Vampire Diaries by L.J. Smith is another great series very similar to Twilight. They also made a TV series based on the novels on the CW.

While not a vampire book, all the kids who loved Twilight have loved The Hunger Games (and they all also have loved Harry Potter, but that doesn't help as they've already read them)
another book they've loved is 13 reasons why.

But to steer them to books that they think they'll like as they have a vampire theme, I've had kids like
Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark Side, Blue Bloods, Night Runnder, Vampire Kisses, the PC Csat and Kristin Cast books, and The Van Alen Legacy.

The Summoning (kids with various cool powers) is also popular.

I just finished Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. It is not a vampire story but has many of the same elements of Twilight - star-crossed lovers, supernatural happenings, and characters that aren't what they seem to be. I enjoyed it and will recommend it to our 7th and 8th graders .
