Making Curriculum Pop

Recent comics teaching posts at Matt Madden's blog and the Drawing Words & Writing Pictures site

Hi everyone!

I want to share a few links with you that may be of intereste to this group. First up, some posts from dw-wp.com, the website of our textbook, Drawing Words & Writing Pictures

Read about our Best American Comics 2010 Notable comics series here. These are capsule reviews of the almost 100 books that didn't make the final cut but are worthy of attention. We have done this project largely with the goal of giving resources to teachers so let us know what you think.

And read about foldy comics here, a cool activity we just tried with our undergrads at SVA which has lots of classroom potential.

From my blog, two recent posts about comics activities that you could treat as fun jams, exercises, or as the basis for longer assigments.

One is called a ROYGBIV comic and you can read about it here.

The other is a jam comic activity based on Tic Tac Toe, here.

have a great weekend,

Matt

These are great. I especially like the tic tac toe activity. I teach a gen ed course in Comics and Culture class with an historian and these will be terrific activities for our students (only one of whom considers themselves an artist). I have been using your book to great effect this year. Thanks!

Jay

Thanks, Jay, glad you're finding it useful!
