Making Curriculum Pop

I saw this stunning infographic/animation in the New York Times about the 100M freestyle over time and thought it would make a brilliant teaching tool for math teachers.

Think about the type of computations students could make to check and explore the data presented here.  From there they might be able to use the same mathematical tools to look at a sport of their choosing over time. Anyone feeling that idea?
