Making Curriculum Pop

Cool new website built around protecting the oceans. From their About Us page:

The TerraMar Project is a dynamic web based non-profit aimed to help protect the high seas. Created out of a frustration for a lack of awareness in the public eye on issues plaguing international waters, the TerraMar Project founders decided the high seas needed a new identity and TerraMar was born. The world's first virtual ocean community.
The Public Trust Doctrine is thought to originate in the second century writings of a Roman jurist he states, “Et quidem naturali jure communia sunt omnium haec, aer, aqua profundus, et mare et per hoc littora maris. By natural law itself these things are the common property of all: air, running water, the sea, and with it the shores of the sea.” This is a truth TerraMar holds dear, for the high seas are the only common area, recognized as such where everyone belongs and has claim; every man, woman and child.
Think of The TerraMar Project not only as a voice but also as the world’s first social engagement resource for the oceans & the global community at large. Signing up for citizenship is the first step towards making a difference.
The need for The TerraMar Project has never been greater. 45% of our planet is abused, overlooked & not preserved for future generations. Just because the high seas are out of sight does not mean they should be out of mind. The TerraMar Project's number one goal is to change attitudes and governance as it relates to the world’s largest ecosystem. Scientists estimate that 85% of all the world’s fish stocks are already fully exploited, with some experts predicting that all fisheries will collapse by 2050, which would create a food shortage. Meanwhile, rates of pollution continue to spiral, with one island of rubbish twice the size of the United States already floating in the Pacific Ocean. By contrast, less than 2% of the world’s oceans are currently protected – an unsustainable situation that poses a critical threat to life on land and sea.

They have a resource where students can take virtual sea dives ...

They also have an emerging educator's page with lesson plans starting to pop up...
