Thank you for these links Ryan. I am in the middle of writing my Literature Review for the Action Research. So far the other Heads of Departments are very keen to be involved. We had a professional learning session on MineCraft. The actual inegrated assessment task is shaping up nicely. We are going to allocate a group of four their own space in MineCraft and use Flip Learning as our approach. All resources and links will be posted on a blog called Virtual Knox so that the students can access all information and pose any questions before they start designing a low energy city.

Karen, this sounds very cool! As the work takes shape you should share in the discussion forum (above) so we can broadcast the exciting work your doing in a Monday Blog and Cog or (if shorter) Week in Review.  Thanks for sharing! Ry

We are in the process of designing an integrated assessment task across most key learning areas for year 8 that requires the boys to design a low energy city using the medium of MineCraft. Technology will be used as enabler to foster creative learning. The boys will work in teams over a period of three weeks developing their low energy city. The year 8 boys have been chosen because they have just completed a unit of work in Geography on sustainability and responsible citizenship.

My Wikia page on Video game Literacy is complete. If anyone wants to take a look, I've provided a URL below. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed working on it.

For those of you who might be interested in educational alternate reality games (such as World Without Oil), here's a link to some research that I've conducted on them: http://www.shoyu.com/research.asp.

Also, feel free to join the Educational ARG group on Gameful (http://gameful.org) where we are discussing all aspects of these types of learning games.

Hey Lea, Consider "Starting a discussion" up above with the NPR link and game link so I can share that resource in the Week in review (these wall comments get buried quickly) - thanks for sharing! Ry:)

Hi all,

To help make math curricula pop, I design games and activities which are published at MathPlayground.com. I'm always looking for new game ideas and collaborations. If you'd like to help design a math game or want to contribute an idea or artwork, please contact me. I'm currently developing a platform game that focuses on proportional reasoning. It should be online by September.

I'm looking forward to learning with everyone here!
