Making Curriculum Pop

Looking for another well written, developed, and researched article about the American experience?  Consider this May, 2014 Atlantic Monthly article by Ta-Nehisi Coates. This could serve as a mentor text and springboard for argumentative writing.

I just read this article as well. Well, most of it. Like all Atlantic 10,000 worders, it has a great premise, good research, and several good examples. The Lawndale example is terrific, and could be coupled with a video on predatory lending and scare tactics (which is really why many white folks left "changing neighborhoods" - not because they hated black people). Unfortunately, when someone moving next door to you now represents loss of wealth, people internalized that and start giving people attributes based on no real data.

I was happy to see this article and will use it. It's a very nice cultural studies/empowerment piece.

Thanks for posting about this.
