I have just finished watching the new doc "ILM Creating The Impossible," which was shown (and will be rebroadcast) on the Encore cable network. It is a fascinating history of the development of Industrial Light and Magic as well as a look at most of the major films it has been involved in since 1977's Star Wars. Among the directors interviewed are: Ron Howard, Steven Spielberg, and of course, George Lucas. There are also interviews with many of the key behind-the-scenes ILM experts. See the trailer here and here. When I think about "film education" and what students don't know about film-making, I think this is one to definitely have in my toolbox.
