Open Culture offers 380 films in many genres on its website. According to the site: "The collection is divided into the following categories: Comedy & Drama; Film Noir, Horror & Hitchcock; Westerns & John Wayne; Silent Films; Documentaries, and Animation."

I'm with Karen.  I sent out the link to my fellow Profs in Humanities.  So far, the site is considered a success, but there are some who are checking into the legalities and copyright info to make sure they're covered legally if they use the site and its resources.  Thanks to everyone for all their hard work!
Be sure to direct your peers to this book Copyright Clarity: How Fair Use Supports Digital Learning - Fair use is a lot easier than most folks assume (hence the legal panic that is usually irrational).
I am most confident that these films would NOT be freely available if the site owners had not already done due diligence to insure copyright and access was not a problem.
