QUICK GUIDE: An Introduction to Spike Lee In Five Films

I have not seen Chi-Raq yet, but am excited to. Spike is one of my fav filmmakers for all kinds of reasons. My brother is a film writing machine for Consequence of Sound and he had a pretty fresh post on Spike's 5 essential films. It was nerdy of him to eschew Do the Right Thing, and I would say that Clockers and Inside Man are also up there. That said with the restriction of choosing only 5 films - he picked some straight up brilliant mix. My fav. passage:

And Lee’s always gonna have it, his way, for mostly better, and occasionally worse. He doesn’t need us to talk about him, but his films have a power to them that demands discourse and constant conversations.
