Wonderful back story on the inspiration of 'The Snowy Day'. You'll love this story for a lot of reasons but mostly because of the photo Keats' held on to for 20-years that inspired the book...

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! The Snowy Day is one of my all time favorite books -- in any category. I also love Peter's Chair and Goggles.

I remember when I found out that Keats was white, I was disappointed for a split second but went back to my admiration and pride in his work. I still think he's black somewhere but that's just me.

Shirley, Glad you liked it - yeah a very interesting story.  My favorite part of the radio program was when the woman from the foundation said that previous attempts by white authors to write about black kids did not go well (and then she repeats) at all. One can only imagine.
