Here is some resources I use in my class:
1. This is a website for a high school class on media that has some great resources for teaching about advertising (http://www.stayfreemagazine.org/ml/)
2. Peter D's Website: Former marketing exec who turned to teaching about media. His website has a ton of educational handouts that I use in class for our advertising unit (http://medialiteracy.net/)
3. The book: "Branded - The Buying & Selling of Teenagers" (http://www.amazon.com/Branded-Selling-Teenagers-Alissa-Quart/dp/073...)
4. The Media Literacy Project has a section called "Deconstruct This" that is a resource when teaching kids about deconstruction (http://medialiteracyproject.org/)
5. One I haven't used yet but definitely plan to is the new movie "Greatest Movie Ever Sold" a documovie by Morgan Spurlock - they guy who did "Supersize Me" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1743720/)
