FOR TEACHERS looking to use adverstising in the classroom what would you suggest to get people started?

I'm thinking PBS/Frontline's The Persuaders, The Merchants of Cool and Bill Moyers' The 30 Second President (I wish Bill would update this one) are essential as well as the magazine Adbusters but beyond that I'm wondering what you would suggest.

Thanks so much for your time and ideas in advance!

I second Frank's mention of Admongo. I think it's fairly comprehensive and really gets the convos going w/ the kids. It also has lots of room to modify and change things if you want to add to what they give you.

Good to hear that is successful - it looks like an excellent site!

Here is some resources I use in my class:

1. This is a website for a high school class on media that has some great resources for teaching about advertising (http://www.stayfreemagazine.org/ml/)

2. Peter D's Website: Former marketing exec who turned to teaching about media. His website has a ton of educational handouts that I use in class for our advertising unit (http://medialiteracy.net/)

3. The book:  "Branded - The Buying & Selling of Teenagers" (http://www.amazon.com/Branded-Selling-Teenagers-Alissa-Quart/dp/073...)

4. The Media Literacy Project has a section called "Deconstruct This" that is a resource when teaching kids about deconstruction (http://medialiteracyproject.org/)

5. One I haven't used yet but definitely plan to is the new movie "Greatest Movie Ever Sold" a documovie by Morgan Spurlock - they guy who did "Supersize Me" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1743720/)

Thanks Karl - I'll check these out as we do our final edit!
