Making Curriculum Pop

Hello -

Our school recently received some Simple Touch Nooks for our intervention program for literacy in 5th grade. The Simple Touch is new to me - no color pictures or audio. Comics and audio are ways I have used to lure in reluctant readers in the past. With these options unavailable, I am at a bit of a loss.

Does anyone have any suggestions for chapter books in the 1st to 3rd grade reading level that 5th grade readers would enjoy?

Is anyone else using Simple Touch Nooks for reading interventions or to accommodate struggling readers?  What have you tried that seems to work?

Many thanks!!

Joan

I don't know how many will be available on the Nook, but the ALA put out this list for grades 3-6:  http://www.ala.org/alsc/compubs/booklists/Hi-Lo_Booklist

Thanks, that is helpful!
